Bloomingdale Located in the Northwest quadrant of the city, Bloomingdale is nestled in between Shaw, Edgewood, Eckington, and LeDroit Park. And while it spans just a few square blocks, its row houses and restaurants make it a well worth a visit. Big Bear Cafe is the neighborhood spot that everyone wishes they had on their own block. It serves a lot more than coffee—including a mean brunch. But if you like Big Bear in January, consider coming back in a warmer month when its outdoor seating will be in full bloom. For those who are more dinner-oriented in their restaurant search, check out nearby The Red Hen instead; or, if you have a true appreciate for Korean fried chicken, KoChix, which is technically located in Shaw, is making food-scene waves.
